Back in Paris for a few days during the holidays. I am not very used to do street photo in Paris, although I lived there for more than 10 years. And after a long break abroad coming back occasionally you feel somewhat like a tourist here, especially in July.
There is few visible contemporary street photography in Paris (in France more generally) and it is not very easy to escape from the very photographic clichés of the Capital of France that have been established decades ago. So finally – and also because I lacked of time – I decided to give myself a try working around those clichés. Good thing that I found myself walking in Saint-Germain-des-Prés because it is a very quintessential place for a certain idea of Paris which is widely perceived from outside France. And you have these 2 famous cafés (“Café de Flore”, “Les deux Magots”) that were headquarter for Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir and that have now become a stage for lots of tourists trail.
