Lawrence, MA

Lawrence is a city in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States on the Merrimack River. According to a 2009 estimate by the U.S. Census Bureau, the city had a total population of 70,662. Surrounding communities include Methuen to the north, Andover to the southwest, and North Andover to the southeast. It and Salem are the county seats of Essex County.[1] Lawrence is also part of the Merrimack Valley.

There is a specific vibe in Lawrence. Not sure the reason for it. You have these old brownstone mills on both sides of the Merrimack that now don’t have industrial activity anymore (except a couple of them) and were revitalized in office building or art galleries.  And in this somewhat English looking cityscape there is a very important Hispanic community which you don’t expect to find here in the first place. It is very different from Boston of course and in my opinion worth to have a look if you spend some time in the Area.

I did not get there very often but have few snapshots done mainly in the commercial streets downtown. Here are some of them, not supposed to be very truthful of what Lawrence looks though, but instead mere personal outlook.
